This year marks our 10th annual Keegan’s 5K for Craniosynostosis Awareness! Come and join us for a noncompetitive 5K run/walk along the beautiful White Bear Lake, starting at West Park! Craniosynostosis affects 1 in 2500 births. Craniosynostosis is premature fusion of the sutures of the skull, which if not treated, can cause the skull to become misshapen, put pressure on the brain, or even permanent brain damage. Treating craniosynostosis requires surgery to separate the fused bone and increase the cranial vault to allow the brain space to grow properly and prevent damage to the brain. This surgery is typically performed at or before 6 months of age. Our race proceeds go to the Cranio Care Bears, a nonprofit organization developed by two Cranio Moms, who mail care packages to children before their surgeries. Come and support our cranio families!
